Reflecting the idea of the Paralympics it is planned to organize a sporting exchange between 6 European schools. Each of them will hold the role of a host country for a specific period of time. The task of the host is a) to produce an instructional video about a typical sport or game from the region or school and b) to create a welcome pack with a selection of typical products and information. Both will be sent to each of the partner schools (guest countries). During the following months the pupils will explore the welcome pack within different subjects and school activities to learn more about the host country. Also, each school will train in the introduced sport/game and share their experiences by communicating using different ICT-tools such as eTwinning. The host will also organize a stay of a delegation from the guest countries, taking place at the end of each hosting period. At this meeting mixed teams will compete in a relaxed, fun atmosphere and work collaboratively to create a project product. This product will be composed from elements that each partner school has created beforehand to an agreed topic (e.g. logo, healthy menu). Finally the “Olympic torch” will be passed on to a new host school / country, which will be responsible for organizing the next cycle. We aim to give our pupils, who have due to their disability or rural living area only limited possibilities to make intercultural encounters, the chance to experience Europe actively and to grow personally by taking responsibility for aspects of the project. On a school and professional level we are aiming at an intensive exchange about therapeutic and pedagogical concepts with a focus on possible ways to organize interdisciplinary and active lessons as well as on inclusion for pupils with special needs.
